I moved to Austin during the fall of 2015 and loved every minute exploring this amazing city! I visited prior and fell in love with the people and the mentality… don’t forget about the food! I was born and raised in beautiful Colorado with a loving family who’s always adored rescues of any kind! My mom always loved cats, whereas my dad had a soft-spot for large dogs! I was about 4 years old when my dad took me to the local shelter to pick out my first puppy! We came home with a very energetic lab, who I later named “Pal”. Another time, my mom and I were meeting for lunch, when my dad pulled up with a very big dog hanging out of the passenger window, and to this day I can still hear my mom saying, “Ohh! Your dad brought home another one!”
Needless to say, each and every adopted animal became an important member of our family! My parents welcomed a sweet kitty, named Ashlyn, several years ago. I found her abandoned one evening and knew she would not survive the harsh winter to come; I also knew my mom loved cats, hehe! Later came Oliver, a special rescue, who was a mix of Aussie and Healer. He reaffirmed the meaning of unconditional love and was a complete joy within our family. I think back and smile at all of the memories I was able to share with our family of fur babies! I’m grateful that my parents passed along a love for animals from a very young age!
Towards the end of my teens, I spent several years working with children in elementary and preschools. I’ve always had a nurturing demeanor and absolutely loved working with kids. However, I also felt drawn to the fashion industry and ended up relocating to New York City to pursue my career. A few years later and after a lot of hard work, I found myself in Asia. I spent several years traveling for work and fell in love with every new city I visited. I eventually returned to the states and relocated to the beautiful town of Pagosa Springs, CO. It’s nestled in the Southwest corner, near Durango and is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges! I see a lot of similarities between the Denver and Austin areas, which made the transition quite easy!
I started with The Pet Gal two weeks after arriving and have never looked back! I wanted so submerge myself in something that gave me true joy and happiness. An industry that is low stress and not very different from working with children. For many of our clients, their pets are their children; a special member of their family! I’ve created new bonds with each of the clients I’ve had the opportunity to work with, and I look forward to each special connection to come!
When I’m not busy watching over all of our adorable fur babies, I enjoy soaking in all Austin has to offer! I’ve fallen in love with the way of life, the people, and the scenery. My boyfriend and I enjoy getting out and exploring with our nine month old Border Collie, Cooper, who was love at first sight! He’s been an amazing addition to our family and he keeps us on our toes! We especially love how “pet friendly” Austin is, and so does Cooper! I am so happy I found The Pet Gal and we’re happy you found us too! I look forward to caring for your family member(s), and will welcome them as my own!
